Broward County personal injury attorney Joseph Maus has the knowledge and experience to help you through difficult times when you have been injured due to the negligence of another.
A series of explosion from power cables and a scaffolding collapse knocked a painter unconscious and sent him plummeting several stories toward certain death until nature intervened. The accident occurred shortly before noon at an apartment building near 100 S Birch Road. The explosion knocked out power in parts of Fort Lauderdale.
Police say that the man was unconscious all the way down and that trees broke his fall. The man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center and is in critical condition. He also has a broken leg.
Safety officials declined to comment on whether or not the man was wearing a safety harness or if high winds caused his fall. Eyewitnesses say the explosions was very loud, like a transformer blowing up.
Whenever a person is required to work outdoors from a multi-story scaffolding, the likelihood of a catastrophic accident happening is increased. Like window washers, painters should be wearing a safety harness at all times. Employers in Florida are responsible for providing safety training and the safest possible work environment for their employees.
If you have been injured by the negligence of your employer in providing ongoing safety training or a safe work environment, you can sue them for your medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. Call the Maus Law Firm today for a free consultation
